VGL was engaged to replace the ageing metal halide and fluorescent high-bay fittings across a series of warehouse and distribution facilities in St Albans, Letchworth, and Enfield. The legacy systems were slow to reach full brightness, consumed significantly more energy than modern alternatives, and required frequent lamp replacements that created ongoing maintenance costs and operational disruptions.
Victor LED specified and installed high-efficiency LED high-bay luminaires rated for the demanding conditions typical of large-volume warehouse environments — including dusty atmospheres and high ambient temperatures near roof level. Each site was zoned to allow independent control of different operational areas: loading bays, racking aisles, and despatch zones can now be managed independently, reducing energy use during partial-operation periods.
Emergency lighting was replaced and tested to current BS 5266 standards as part of the same programme. Victor Power completed all associated distribution work, including sub-mains upgrades at the St Albans site to support the new load. All installations were scheduled around shift patterns to avoid downtime.
